Tory Flynn, Chief Sustainability Officer and Vice President of Corporate Affairs, stated that 2023 was the first year Hillenbrand had insights into all three scopes of its emissions. This allowed them to gain new insights into emissions from their equipment and their impact on customers' operations. The company also expanded its use of renewable energy across its operations. Additionally, results from their first double materiality assessment helped them focus on topics that are important to stakeholders, including innovation and supply chain management.
The report also showcases product innovation and how it integrates with new brands to impact sustainability within key end-markets. It also highlights Hillenbrand's efforts to increase supplier standards and expand human rights policies. The company has set a new framework for foundational safety standards and culture focused on safety for all associates. They have also begun aligning with the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD).
