October 10, 2025 ~ Starting Monday, October 13, the final phase of the Wall Street Streetscape Project will commence, according to a press release from the city. The project, which began in October 2025, aims to improve the safety and accessibility of Wall Street for pedestrians and motorists.
The construction will focus on the section of Wall Street between Ceaser Chavez and Ironwood drives. This portion of the street will be closed during construction, including the intersection of Wall Street and Ironwood Drive. The closure is necessary for the installation of a median refuge island for pedestrians crossing Ironwood Drive at Wall Street, as well as the construction of new curbs and sidewalks on both sides of Wall Street.

In addition to these improvements, the project also includes repaving of Wall Street and its intersection with Ironwood Drive. The city estimates that the project will be completed by the end of October, weather permitting.
During the closure, motorists are advised to use Mishawaka Avenue and Jefferson Boulevard via Twyckenham Drive as a detour route. For more information on the project, residents can visit together.southbendin.gov/wall.
