October 29, 2025 ~ South Bend, Indiana - The City of South Bend has announced the start of their Fall Leaf Pickup program, set to begin on Monday, November 3. The first round of pickup dates has been released, with the second round to be announced at the end of November.
According to the city's website, crews will be collecting leaves from neighborhoods street by street, following a schedule available at southbendin.gov/leafpickup. Residents are reminded that they do not need to call in to request a pickup and that all scheduled dates are subject to change depending on weather conditions. It is advised for residents to regularly check the website for any updates on the schedule.
To make it easier for residents to track leaf pickup in real-time, the City has also launched an interactive Leaf Pickup Map on their website. This map allows residents to see the status of different zones and leaf pickup progress on individual streets. By entering their address or zooming in on their location, residents can easily keep track of when their leaves will be collected. However, it is noted that the map may take a few seconds to load.

The leaf pickup program will run from early November until the end of December, weather permitting. Crews will collect all leaves in one zone before moving on to the next. It is important for residents to note that leaf pickup in a particular zone may take several days before moving onto the next one.
In order for this program to run smoothly and efficiently, residents are asked to follow certain guidelines when preparing their leaves for pickup. Leaves should be raked onto the tree lawn area by 6 am on the scheduled set out date and should be free of sticks, trash, and other debris. Additionally, cars should not be parked on top or in front of leaf piles along curb lines as this can hinder collection. It is also important for residents to remember that leaf burning is prohibited and considered a violation of City ordinance.
For those participating in the City's Yard Waste program, leaves can also be placed in yard waste bins. Weekly collections will continue until Friday, November 28. Residents with any questions or concerns can contact 311 for assistance.
As the Fall Leaf Pickup program begins, the City of South Bend encourages residents to follow these guidelines and utilize the interactive map to ensure a successful and timely collection of leaves.
