~ The City of South Bend has taken a major step towards improving the financial well-being of its residents by releasing a Request for Proposals (RFP) for qualified nonprofit organizations to serve as the financial counseling provider for the city's new Financial Empowerment Center. This initiative, announced on February 14, 2024, aims to empower South Bend families and lead the way in implementing financial empowerment programs.

The program is developed by the Cities for Financial Empowerment Fund, a national organization that works towards embedding financial empowerment strategies into local government infrastructure. With over thirty successful implementations across the United States, this program has proven to be effective in improving the financial stability of communities.
