~ South Bend residents have the opportunity to shape the city's future as the fifth year of Build the Budget was announced today. This annual engagement period, initiated by the City, allows residents to voice their priorities for the 2026 budget season.
Mayor James Mueller emphasized the importance of resident participation in the budget planning process, stating that it is a crucial way for them to influence and improve their city. He encouraged all residents to take part and make their voices heard.
During Build the Budget, City staff collects ideas and feedback from residents through various channels such as an online budget survey, 311 voicemails, and interactive budget games at community events. Last year saw over 1,300 resident engagements and this year's goal is to surpass that number.
