January 9, 2025 ~ South Bend, IN - The City of South Bend Department of Public Works has announced upcoming traffic alerts for the week of January 13, weather permitting. These alerts will affect two major roads in the city, including the Chippewa Avenue roundabout and Ireland Road.
Starting on Monday, January 13, the northbound lanes of Michigan Street at the Chippewa Avenue roundabout will be closed for repairs to a storm drain. This closure is expected to last until Friday, January 17. However, the southbound lanes of Michigan Street will remain open for traffic. Drivers heading north will be detoured onto Barbie Street and then north on Main Street.

In addition, Ireland Road between Middleboro Street and Irish Hills Drive will also be closed starting on Monday for water service line work. The detour routes for this closure will be Ironwood Drive and Hickory Road via Inwood Road. This section of Ireland Road is expected to reopen on Friday, January 17.
The City of South Bend Department of Public Works urges drivers to plan ahead and use alternate routes during these closures to avoid any delays or disruptions to their commute.
