- South Bend: City Accepting Applications for 2025 Lamppost Lighting Program
April 9, 2025 ~ The City of South Bend is offering a new program to assist homeowners with lighting enhancements in their neighborhoods. The 2025 Lamppost Lighting Program, run by the Department of Public Works, aims to provide easy self-install, solar-powered lampposts for residential front yards.
Applications for the program are now being accepted and are open to homeowners within the city limits. This year, the City has identified two target areas based on income, number of vacant lots, and a need for lighting in the neighborhood. Homeowners in these areas will only have to pay $50 as their share of the total cost, while those outside the target areas will pay $250.
