First-of-its-kind RRFB combines radar intelligence, real traffic data collection, and pedestrian countdown guidance.
ATLANTA - IndianaStop -- As pedestrian safety challenges grow more complex and agencies face increased pressure to justify infrastructure investments, Radarsign™ is introducing a new standard for crosswalk safety with the launch of CrossCommand™ RRFB Crosswalk with Radar-Based Traffic Data Collection.
CrossCommand™ is the industry's first MUTCD 11th Edition and BABA compliant RRFB system to unify radar intelligence, traffic data collection, and pedestrian walk time countdown directly within the crosswalk itself. The result is a purpose-built safety system that delivers both visibility and insight without additional sensors, disjointed hardware, or added infrastructure.
"Communities are being asked to improve pedestrian safety with fewer resources and greater accountability," said Anna Duckworth, Sales Director at Radarsign. "CrossCommand™ gives agencies more than flashing lights. It gives them insight to help them make data-informed decisions based on what's actually happening at the crosswalk."

Traditional RRFB installations operate in isolation, providing no measurable understanding of vehicle speeds, approach behavior, or driver response over time. CrossCommand™ disrupts that model by embedding radar directly into the RRFB light bar, capturing real-world traffic behavior at the point of pedestrian interaction.
Paired with optional pedestrian countdown side panels, CrossCommand™ also improves the crossing experience by giving pedestrians clearer expectations and greater confidence in unsignalized crossings, school zones, and high-volume pedestrian corridors.
"This is not a bolt-on feature or a minor enhancement," said Nicole Summerlin, Marketing Director at Radarasign. "CrossCommand™ represents a shift in how crosswalk safety is designed. We are delivering a single system that connects visibility, data, and pedestrian guidance into one cohesive product."
