Bloomington, Ind. ~ Bloomington, Ind. - The City of Bloomington's Commission on the Status of Women has announced that they are now accepting nominations for their 2025 annual awards. These awards aim to recognize and honor women and girls who are making a positive impact, breaking barriers, and inspiring others in the community.
The award winners will be celebrated at the Women's History Month Luncheon on March 27, 2025. This event is a powerful gathering that acknowledges the exceptional leadership and contributions of women in Bloomington. The deadline to submit nominations is Friday, January 31, 2025.
The Woman of the Year Award is one of the prestigious awards that will be presented at the luncheon. This award recognizes a woman who has gone above and beyond her job responsibilities to make a significant impact on the lives of other women through community service or inspiration. The recipient of this award serves as a positive role model and has made extraordinary contributions to the community.
Another notable award is the Toby Strout Lifetime Contribution Award, named after the late Toby Strout who was a former director of Middle Way House and member of the Commission. This award honors a woman whose leadership and service have greatly advanced the status of women in Bloomington.

The Emerging Leader Award is presented to a woman with less than five years of experience who has shown exceptional promise for future leadership and contributions. Additionally, there is also an award specifically for young women aged 11-18 called the Young Woman of the Year Award. This award recognizes young women who have already made an impact in advocating for girls' and women's issues in their community. Self-nominations are encouraged for this category.

Nominations should clearly explain why the nominee deserves the award, highlighting how their community service has benefited women. Each nomination should include the nominee's full name, address, phone number, and email address, as well as the nominator's information.
