From expanded trail connections to innovative fitness infrastructure and events, Fishers continues to invest in ways for the community to get active, explore, and connect.
"These new amenities reflect our long-term commitment to making health and wellness an integral part of everyday life in Fishers," said Fishers Mayor Scott Fadness. Bell Ford Bridge & Geist Greenway
Connecting the Geist Greenway with Hamilton County's Geist Park, the newly restored Bell Ford Bridge provides a scenic and historic pedestrian crossing over Fall Creek. Originally constructed in the 1860s where it provided safe crossing in Seymour, Indiana, the bridge was relocated and rebuilt using nearly 90% of the original cast iron and 40% of the original timber. This addition enhances safety and connectivity along the Geist Greenway, a 5-mile trail from 96th to 131st Street. Learn more at FishersParks.com/GeistGreenway.
Nickel Plate Trail, Strengthened by IU Health
The downtown portion of the Nickel Plate Trail, Strengthened by IU Health, continues to serve as a central hub for recreation, wellness, and connection. Recent enhancements include the Key to the City art installation, a dynamic mural and colorful overhead lighting in the 116th Street tunnel, new gathering spaces, and pop-up events that activate this urban trail corridor. Learn more at FishersParks.com/NickelPlateTrail.
