~ Evansville Mayor Stephanie Terry presented her first proposed budget to City Council today, outlining her plans for the city's finances in the upcoming year. The proposed 2025 budget, which was delivered in a 20-minute speech, is set to allocate approximately $514 million for the city's operations.
The budget presentation marked the beginning of a day of budget hearings, during which department heads will present their budgets and answer questions from Council members. Mayor Terry's proposed budget includes several key highlights, such as a 3% salary increase for all city employees not covered by collective bargaining agreements.
In addition, members of the Evansville Police and Fire departments can expect a 7% salary increase under Mayor Terry's proposal. The budget also includes a $1 million allocation to the Affordable Housing Trust Fund and increased funding for Land Acquisition and the Land Bank.
