~ Evansville Mayor Stephanie Terry has announced the creation of a new Mayor's Youth Advisory Council and is now accepting applications for students to serve on the council. The council is seeking students who will be entering grades 8-12 in the fall of 2024 and are dedicated to making a positive impact in their community.
The main goal of the Evansville Mayor's Youth Advisory Council is to have a diverse group of students who can provide valuable insights and advice to Mayor Terry on issues that directly affect the city's youth. "As Mayor, I believe it is crucial that our administration represents all members of our community, especially our young people who are the future of our city," said Mayor Terry.
The council will give students the opportunity to work together as a team to come up with solutions for problems facing Evansville's youth. They will also participate in service learning projects and have the chance to be inspired by local leaders and officials. The council will meet quarterly, with additional meetings possible once a project has been selected.

Selected students will serve a 10-month term that aligns with the academic year. Applications can be found on the city's website and must be submitted by August 2nd. Finalists will then be invited for an in-person interview before being chosen for the council.
Ariah Leary, Community Affairs and Special Projects Director for Mayor Stephanie Terry's office, can be contacted at aleary@evansville.in.gov for any questions or concerns regarding applications. Applications can also be dropped off at the Mayor's Office located in Room 302 of the Civic Center.
The council will consist of 20 students, with representation from all five city wards. This ensures that all areas of Evansville are represented and their voices are heard.
Interested students are encouraged to apply and become part of this important initiative that aims to involve young people in shaping their community's future. The application form can be found on the city's website under the "Associated Documents" section.
