~ Evansville Mayor Stephanie Terry is taking action to revitalize the city's neighborhoods with the launch of the Block-by-Block Neighborhood Cleanup program. This spring, Mayor Terry will be hosting three events, beginning on Friday, March 21 in the CHAIN neighborhood.
The Block-by-Block program was first introduced in 2024 with two events and has since gained momentum. In 2025, Mayor Terry plans to expand the program by hosting a total of eight events between March and October. The announcement made today focuses on the spring portion of the program and includes three events in different neighborhoods.
The first event will take place on Friday, March 21 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the CHAIN neighborhood. This will be followed by an event in the Lamasco neighborhood on Friday, April 25 and another in Tepe Park neighborhood on Saturday, May 31. All events will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
The Block-by-Block Neighborhood Cleanup program is a collaborative effort between city employees and community volunteers. Together, they will work towards picking up trash, mowing lawns, trimming trees, and other aspects of neighborhood cleanup. The CHAIN Neighborhood event will also include demolishing a blighted structure.

This initiative is part of Mayor Terry's focus on Neighborhood Revitalization which also includes programs like Fight Blight and those funded by the Affordable Housing Trust Fund. According to Mayor Terry, "We launched Block-by-Block last year with the goal of helping to beautify our neighborhoods and strengthen our connections within the community."
The selection of neighborhoods for these cleanup events is based on data collected from various departments such as Building Commission and Evansville Police Department. The aim is to make government services more accessible to these communities.
For those interested in volunteering for any of the Block-by-Block Neighborhood Cleanups, a volunteer form can be found on the City's website at www.evansvillegov.org/block. Dates for summer and fall events will be announced at a later date.
Mayor Terry's efforts to improve the city's neighborhoods through programs like Block-by-Block are commendable and demonstrate her commitment to making Evansville a better place for all its residents.
