Evansville: Mayor Terry Announces 2025 Forward Together Grant Recipients

Trending...
~ Evansville Mayor Stephanie Terry has announced the recipients of the city's Forward Together grants, which were created last year to support eligible nonprofit organizations in the Evansville community. The grants, totaling $500,000, were awarded to 15 organizations that are making a meaningful impact in areas such as home weatherization, food access, services for people experiencing homelessness, and literacy.

The Forward Together grants were made possible by interest on American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds. More than 45 organizations applied for funding, highlighting the great need for support in these crucial areas. After careful consideration and review by a committee of volunteers, Mayor Terry made the final decisions on which organizations would receive funding.

Among the recipients is the YWCA, which received $12,000 for their Tech Tools for Transformation program that provides homeless services. St. Vincent Early Learning Center was awarded $28,200 for their Growing Readers, Growing Families program focused on literacy. The University of Evansville also received funding for their UE School of Education Literacy in the Community Project.

Mayor Terry expressed her gratitude to all the organizations receiving funding, stating that these grants come at a critical moment for many in the community. With rising utility costs and uncertainty around SNAP benefits, these grants will help meet immediate needs while also supporting important programs and services.

The Forward Together grants are a testament to the city's commitment to building stability and opportunity in the Evansville community. Mayor Terry's final decisions on funding reflect her dedication to supporting organizations that are making a positive impact in the areas of home weatherization, food access, services for people experiencing homelessness, and literacy. The city looks forward to seeing the positive outcomes of these grants and the continued progress of these organizations in their meaningful work.
