~ Evansville, IN - Low-income households in Evansville can now breathe a sigh of relief as city officials have announced an increase in funding for home repairs through the Affordable Housing Fund Advisory Committee (AHFAC) Rehab Program. The program, which is administered by the Department of Metropolitan Development, will now provide up to $25,000 for qualifying households in need of repairs.
This decision was made by the AHFAC after a recent vote to increase the maximum amount from $10,000 to $25,000. The funds will be available as a loan and can be forgiven if the homeowner remains in the property for at least five years after receiving the assistance.
Mayor Stephanie Terry expressed her excitement about this development, stating that "our neighborhoods are the heart of our community and it is our responsibility to revitalize them." She also mentioned that an additional $250,000 has been added to the Affordable Housing Trust Fund as part of their efforts to strengthen and improve living conditions for residents.
