~ Fishers, IN- The City of Fishers has announced plans for a new park, the Fishers White River Park, set to open in 2025. Located just west of the 96th Street and Allisonville Road intersection, the park will cover over 120 acres of land and feature more than 5,000 feet of riverfront. This project is a crucial addition to connecting visitors to existing trails and waterways throughout Fishers.
According to Mayor Scott Fadness, the new park is a "transformational project" that will greatly enhance connectivity across the city and provide residents with access to beautiful parkland. It is also a cornerstone of the city's vision to revitalize the Allisonville Road corridor and create a vibrant community space for all to enjoy.
The plans for Fishers White River Park were developed based on community feedback and surveys gathered in summer 2023. Some of the key features include 2.45 miles of trails with connectivity to Fishers Heritage Park at White River, a kayak launch, native plantings, a creek stomping area, two scenic overlook boardwalks, and year-round restrooms.

The funding for this project comes from Governor Eric Holcomb's Regional Economic Acceleration and Development Initiative (READI) program. This program aims to encourage regional collaboration and data-driven long-term planning in order to transform Indiana communities and improve quality of life for Hoosiers. The White River region was awarded $20 million in READI 1.0 funding, with $4.7 million allocated specifically for this project in 2022.
Director of Recreation and Wellness for the City of Fishers, Jake Reardon-McSoley, shared that their vision for Fishers White River Park is to showcase the natural beauty of the landscape and provide residents with unparalleled access to the White River. They hope that this park will serve as a sanctuary where people can escape from the daily grind and reconnect with nature.
The Allisonville Road corridor has already seen significant revitalization efforts, with the ongoing 96th Street and Allisonville Road roundabout project being a crucial element. This project aims to enhance traffic flow and accessibility in the area. For more information on the roundabout project, residents can visit FishersIN.gov/96th.
