~ The City of Fishers has taken a proactive step towards improving the lives of its senior citizens by launching an Aging & Wellness Task Force. This task force, co-chaired by Fishers City Councilman Bill Stuart and local physician and Hamilton Southeastern Board of Trustees member Dr. Juanita Albright, aims to evaluate the current services available for seniors in Fishers and make recommendations for new programming and initiatives.
The task force is made up of a diverse group of individuals, including residents and care providers. Their main goal is to identify any gaps in existing offerings through a community survey and focus groups during the evaluation phase.
According to co-chairs Stuart and Dr. Albright, this initiative highlights the city's dedication to supporting its senior population and ensuring they have access to necessary services, programs, and resources for a high quality of life in Fishers. They also expressed excitement about giving seniors the opportunity to directly impact future programming and infrastructure.

This new task force is part of the City's Culture of Health initiative, which aims to promote wellness and healthy living for all residents. The idea for a senior-focused facility was brought up during the planning phase for the new Fishers Community Center, set to open this fall.
Fishers Mayor Scott Fadness emphasized the importance of understanding which amenities and resources can best serve the growing population of seniors who are choosing Fishers as their retirement destination. He also highlighted the city's recent additions such as an event center, art center, parks, and trails that have improved the quality of life for all residents.
The task force will begin its work this spring with a goal to present a plan to City staff by mid-summer. This initiative showcases Fishers' commitment to continuously improving the lives of its citizens, especially its senior population.
