~ Bloomington, IN - The City of Bloomington Utilities (CBU) has released its annual drinking water quality report, providing residents with important information about the safety and quality of their drinking water. The report, which covers data from tests conducted in 2023, details 14 contaminants that were detected in the city's drinking water, including disinfectant byproducts (DBPs) and total organic carbon.
According to the report, Bloomington's drinking water met all federal standards for safe consumption. In addition to the 14 contaminants listed in the report, more than 70 potential contaminants were tested for and not detected. These results are not included in the report but can be found on the city's website at bloomington.in.gov/water-quality-report.pdf.
The release of this report is a requirement under the Safe Drinking Water Act of 1974, which mandates that community water systems provide their customers with a Consumer Confidence Report. This report, also known as an annual drinking water quality report, aims to inform residents about the safety and quality of their drinking water.
