City of Bloomington to Offer Free Leaf Collection Weekly Through December 31st

~ Bloomington, IN- The City of Bloomington has announced a new initiative to provide free weekly curbside leaf collection for its residents. Starting from Monday, November 3rd until Wednesday, December 31st in the year 2025, residents can take advantage of this service by placing bagged leaves at the curb on their regular collection day.

In order to ensure proper disposal and environmental sustainability, the city has specified that leaves must be placed in biodegradable paper yard-waste bags. It is important to note that plastic bags will not be collected.

To assist residents with this new program, free bundles of biodegradable bags will be available at the Sanitation Division located at 3406 S. Walnut St. These bundles can be obtained Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., while supplies last. For additional bags, they can be purchased at most hardware stores. However, each household is limited to one free bundle.

Residents are reminded that only leaves should be placed in the bags and they must be set out by 6 a.m. on pickup day. In case of severe weather or holidays, there may be delays in service.
