~ Bloomington, IN- The City of Bloomington will be honoring volunteers at the highly anticipated 2025 Be More Awards on Tuesday, April 29th at the Buskirk-Chumley Theater. This event, presented by the City of Bloomington Volunteer Network, recognizes individuals and groups who have made a significant and positive impact on the community of Bloomington and Monroe County.
The awards ceremony is open to all and does not require tickets for entry. It will begin at 6:30 p.m. and will feature presentations in eight different categories. These categories include the Be More Bloomington Award, which acknowledges those who have shown excellence in addressing pressing issues such as housing/homelessness, immigration, and food insecurity. The Be More Creative Award honors volunteer work within the arts community while the Be More Dedicated Award recognizes individuals or couples over the age of 60 for their lifetime of service.
Young volunteers under the age of 25 will also be recognized with the Be More Energized Award, while those employed at a business or organization who engage in volunteer activities and programs on behalf of their employer will receive the Be More Engaged Award. The Be More Impactful Award will honor the volunteer or volunteer group of the year.

In addition to these awards, there is also a special category called Be More Involved which is presented to an individual who has volunteered for at least three non-profit organizations for a year or longer. The recipient of this award will have the opportunity to select which non-profit organization they serve will receive a cash award.
Thanks to the generous support from the Community Foundation of Bloomington and Monroe County, each honoree will receive $1,000 for their chosen non-profit organization. This partnership between organizations such as IU Credit Union, United Way of South Central Indiana, and WTIU Public Television has made it possible for these awards to take place.
One exciting addition to this year's ceremony is the presentation of the Presidential Service Awards. Established in 2003 by the President's Council on Service and Civic Participation, this national honor recognizes individuals for their exceptional service and dedication to their communities. The City of Bloomington Volunteer Network is proud to serve as a certifying organization for this prestigious award.
