City of Bloomington Commission on the Status of Black Males to Host Annual Youth Summit

~ Bloomington, IN- The City of Bloomington Commission on the Status of Black Males has announced its highly anticipated Youth Leadership Summit, set to take place on Thursday, Sept. 11 at Bloomington City Hall. The event will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is open to middle and high-school-aged, male-identifying students.

The Summit aims to engage and empower African American and Latino youth through a series of speakers, workshops, and community-building activities centered around leadership, education, and personal growth. The theme for this year's summit is "Standing On Business," in honor of the 2025 celebration.

Registration for the event is free of charge and students who register will be excused from class to attend. While the programming is tailored towards African American and Latino male-identifying students, all are welcome to participate in this inclusive and enriching event.

One of the highlights of the summit will be an emceed panel discussion featuring esteemed panelists such as Patrick D. Smith, PhD, Executive Director of Mentoring Services and Leadership Development at Indiana University. Other panelists include Adrian Parker, PhD, Chief Engineer of Missile Energy Systems at Naval Surface Warfare Center Crane Division (NSWC Crane), Kelin Mark, Middle School Director at Park Tudor Middle School in Indianapolis, and Thomas X. Williams, an author and motivational speaker.
