~ Bloomington, IN- The City of Bloomington is gearing up to host its Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Birthday Celebration on Monday, Jan. 20 at the Buskirk-Chumley Theater. The event, which is free and open to the public, will begin at 6 p.m.

This year's theme, "A Necessary Renaissance in Social Justice: Telling the Stories to Ignite Change," will be highlighted by keynote speaker Keith A. Beauchamp. Beauchamp is a renowned investigative journalist, documentarian, activist, and filmmaker who has made significant contributions to the fight for social justice.

His groundbreaking investigative reporting and 2005 documentary played a crucial role in prompting the State of Mississippi to reopen the murder case of Emmett Till. Beauchamp's collaboration with Emmett's mother ultimately led to the powerful feature film TILL, which has received numerous nominations from prestigious award shows such as the Screen Actors Guild Awards, BAFTAs, and Critics' Choice Awards. The film is currently available for streaming on major platforms.
