Bloomington’s 2025 Women’s History Month Luncheon to Honor Women Who Inspire and Educate

~ Bloomington, IN- The City of Bloomington's Commission on the Status of Women is excited to announce the upcoming 2025 Women's History Month Luncheon. The event will take place on Thursday, March 27, 2025 at the Monroe Convention Center (302 S. College Ave.) and is open to the entire community.

This year's luncheon theme is "Moving Forward Together! Women Who Educate and Inspire Generations." The theme celebrates the collective strength and influence of women who have dedicated their lives to education, mentorship, and leadership. These women have served as an inspiration for all generations, both past and present.

The keynote presenter for this year's luncheon will be Tamara Winfrey-Harris. Winfrey-Harris is a renowned writer who specializes in the intersection of current events, politics, and pop culture with race and gender. She is the author of Dear Black Girl and The Sisters Are Alright. Her writing has been featured in publications such as The New York Times, The Atlantic, Cosmopolitan, New York Magazine, and The Los Angeles Times. Winfrey-Harris' essays have also been included in various anthologies such as The Lemonade Reader: Beyonce, Black Feminism and Spirituality (Routledge, 2019); The Burden: African Americans and the Enduring Impact of Slavery (Wayne State University Press, 2018); Black in the Middle: An Anthology of the Black Midwest (Black Belt Publishing, 2020); among others. She holds a BA degree from Iowa State University's Greenlee School of Journalism and hails from Gary, IN. Recently named president of the Women's Fund of Central Indiana.

In addition to Winfrey-Harris' keynote address, the luncheon will also honor recipients of the 2025 Women's Achievement Awards. These awards include categories such as Woman of the Year, the Toby Strout Lifetime Contribution Award, Emerging Leader, and Young Woman of the Year. The winners for each category will be announced in the coming weeks.

The Commission on the Status of Women also invites women-owned businesses and local organizations for women to reserve exhibit space at the luncheon. These exhibits will be available for viewing by attendees before the start of the program. Interested parties can apply at https://form.jotform.com/CFRDForms/2025WHMExhibit.

The event details and registration information are as follows: Doors open at 11:15 a.m., with the program beginning at 12:15 p.m. Tickets are priced at $45 per person or $425 for a reserved table of eight with preferred seating. Tickets must be reserved in advance at the BCT Box Office (114 E. Kirkwood Ave.) or online at bctboxoffice.org by March 20, 2025.
