~ Bloomington, IN- The City of Bloomington has announced a temporary closure of the intersection of East 3rd Street and the 45/46 Bypass/College Mall Road for final repairs following a water main break last week. The closure will take place overnight from 10 p.m. on Wednesday, January 29, until 7 a.m. on Thursday, January 30.
According to city officials, emergency repairs were immediately made after the water main break on January 24. However, additional work is needed to fully restore the road to its original condition. As a result, the intersection will be closed during this time, with the exception of right-turn lanes which will remain open.

Mayor Kerry Thomson expressed gratitude towards the hardworking Utilities, Public Works, and Public Safety teams for their swift response to the water main break. She also acknowledged their dedication in often difficult conditions that keep the city running smoothly.
Residents are advised to use alternate routes during the closure and can stay updated on City roadwork and closures by visiting bloomington.in.gov/inroads. For any questions or concerns, they can contact the City of Bloomington Utilities at 812-339-1444.
