Bloomington, Ind. ~ Bloomington Community Farmers' Market Hosts Annual Apple Tasting Event

On September 28th, the Bloomington Community Farmers' Market will be hosting their annual free apple tasting event. From 10 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., visitors can sample over a dozen varieties of locally grown and heirloom apples at Fernandez Plaza, located at 401 N. Morton St. in Bloomington.

The event will feature a wide range of apple varieties, including Arkansas Black, Asian Pear, Crimson Crisp, Enterprise, Fugi, Golden Delicious, Granny Smith, Jonathan, Mutzu, Red Winesap, Rhode Island Greening, September Wonder, and Winter Banana. These apples will also be available for purchase at the Farmers' Market.

According to market organizers, the fall season is the perfect time to try out different types of apples. Visitors are encouraged to find their new favorite variety - whether it's a crisp and tart apple perfect for pies or a meaty and thin-skinned apple for enjoying with lunch.

The Bloomington Community Farmers' Market is open every Saturday in September from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m., and every Saturday in October from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Showers Common next to City Hall. The November Market will be held at the Pavilion in Switchyard Park on November 2nd, 9th, 16th and 23rd from 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m., with the season ending on November 30th with the Holiday Market at City Hall from 10 a.m. through 3 p.m.
