Bloomington: Public Invited to Share Input on Statewide Transportation Projects

Trending...
~ The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) has announced an opportunity for community members to learn more about and provide feedback on the Draft 2026-2030 Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP). This federally mandated document outlines the funding and scheduling for surface transportation projects in Indiana, including roads, highways, pedestrian trails, bicycle facilities, bridge facilities, and transit projects.

An in-person open house will be held on Wednesday, April 30 from 4-6 p.m. at Bloomington City Hall. This event is open to all and no registration is required. Attendees can drop in at any time during the two-hour window to view materials, ask questions, and speak directly with INDOT and Bloomington-Monroe-County Metropolitan Organization (BMCMPO) staff.

For those unable to attend the in-person open house, a virtual option will be available on Thursday, April 24 at 5 p.m. Community members can also access the current STIP (2024-2028) and Draft 2026-2030 STIP on INDOT's STIP webpage. Additionally, a STIP Public Primer is available for those who want to learn more about the document.

The public comment period for the Draft 2026-2030 STIP will be open from Tuesday, April 1 to Thursday, May 15. Comments can be submitted in person at an open house, through the STIP Map Survey or via INDOT4U (indot4u.com/855-463-6848). They can also be mailed to Cat Seely, Planning Public Outreach Manager at Indiana Department of Transportation's address: 100 N. Senate Ave., N758-TE Indianapolis, IN 46204.

This is an important opportunity for community members to have their voices heard and provide input on transportation projects that will impact their daily lives. INDOT encourages all interested individuals to participate in the open house and submit their comments during the public comment period.
