~ Bloomington, IN- The City of Bloomington has announced that Kirkwood Avenue will be reopening to vehicle traffic and parking on Wednesday, November 12, 2025. This marks the end of this year's closure and the return to normal operations.
The closure of Kirkwood Avenue was implemented earlier this year to create pedestrian-friendly spaces for outdoor dining, walking, and local events. However, with the season coming to an end, the city has decided to reopen certain blocks to vehicles and regular parking.
According to the city's press release, the following blocks will be open for traffic and parking on November 12: the 100 block, as well as the 400 and 500 blocks. The 300 block of East Kirkwood Avenue, which includes the Monroe County Public Library, had already reopened on October 3.

With Kirkwood Avenue reopening and free parking being offered during peak shopping times, it is sure to be a bustling holiday season in Bloomington.
