The goal of these annual deer hunts is to reduce deer browse pressure on understory plants and seedling trees, allowing them to recover and reproduce within the preserve. Parks and Recreation has been actively managing the deer population at Griffy Lake with sharpshoots or hunts since 2017, with data available online at bloomington.in.gov/boards/deertaskforce/griffy-lake.

For updated information regarding these hunts, follow City of Bloomington, IN - Parks and Recreation on Facebook or call their office at 812-349-3700.
