~ Bloomington, IN- The Bloomington Arts Commission (BAC) has announced its 2024 grant cycles in partnership with the Bloomington Urban Enterprise Association (BUEA). These grants aim to fund the arts and promote cultural experiences in Bloomington. The BAC will be administering three grant cycles throughout the year 2024.
The first cycle, Arts Projects Grants, will provide funds for public-facing arts programming in Bloomington. Projects must begin no earlier than March 31, 2024 and must conclude by March 31, 2025. The award amount for this cycle is up to $3000, but most awardees will not receive full funding. Applications for this cycle will be open from Monday, February 12 to Friday, March 22, 2024. The awards will be announced in May and disbursed in June of that year.
The second cycle, Operations Arts Grants, aims to support operational costs for 501(c)3 organizations with arts-centered missions and a Bloomington-based impact. Eligible organizations must have an annual operating budget of no more than $500,000. Funds can be used for expenses accrued from July 1, 2024 through December 31, 2025. The award amount for this cycle is up to $5000, but most awardees will not receive full funding. Applications for this cycle will be open from Monday, May 13 to Friday, June 21, 2024. The awards will be announced in August and disbursed in September of that year.

The third and final cycle is the Emerging Artist Grants which aim to support the professional career advancement of artists living and working in Bloomington. Funds can be used for expenses accrued from July 1, 2024 through December 31, 2025. The award amount for this cycle is up to $1000. Applications for this cycle will be open from Monday, August 12 to Friday, September 20, 2024. The awards will be announced in November and disbursed in December of that year.

The BAC has allocated a total of $141,017 for the 2024 grants. These funds are from the BAC's annual General and LIT (local income tax) budget lines, as well as the BUEA's annual budget.

To provide more information about each grant cycle, an information session will be held on Thursday, February 22 at 5:30 p.m. in Room 1B at the Monroe County Public Library downtown branch. Interested individuals are requested to RSVP for this session.
In addition, Bloomington Arts Commissioners will also hold office hours for those who would like to discuss the application process.
