The Joint Conference of Catholic Clergy is scheduled to occur in Louisville, KY, from July 28th to July 31st.
SILVER SPRING, Md. - IndianaStop -- The 2024 Joint Conference is extremely excited to explore the spirit and significance of synodality. This year's conference will be a momentous occasion as it brings together distinguished groups such as the National Black Sisters' Conference (NBSC), National Black Catholic Clergy Caucus (NBCCC), National Association of Black Catholic Deacons (NABCD), and National Black Catholic Seminarian Association (NBCSA). These esteemed organizations will engage in a shared exploration designed to delve deep into the essence of collective discernment and decision-making within their communities.
Synodality, which is the principle of collaborative decision-making and unity, is of great significance to these religious groups as they strive to strengthen their connections, encourage open dialogue, and embrace inclusivity within their respective congregations. The upcoming conference will serve as a forum for contemplation, conversation, and proactive steps toward understanding how synodality can enrich relationships, ignite collective wisdom, and enable communities to address modern-day challenges with empathy and truth.
With the recent and unexpected passing of Father Norman Fischer, President of NBCCC, the conference will honor his legacy. He was a visionary leader who dedicated his life to advancing the mission of the NBCCC and promoting unity among Black clergy members. His contributions, wisdom, and spirit of service will be imprinted throughout the conference. Father Fischer's funeral Mass will be held on July 29th, the first day of the joint Conference.
