American College of Education Recognizes Nursing Excellence With 2024 DAISY Award Honorees

INDIANAPOLIS, May 22, 2024 ~ On Monday, the American College of Education® (ACE) held a ceremony at Memorial Hermann in Houston, TX to honor three exceptional nurses with the DAISY Awards. These awards recognize nurses who go above and beyond in their service to patients, regardless of their role or career stage.

This is the third consecutive year that ACE has presented the DAISY Awards, which are open to any licensed registered nurse, nursing faculty or nursing student. Bette Bogdan, ACE Nursing Department Chair, expressed her excitement for honoring these outstanding nurses and celebrating their dedication to providing extraordinary care.

The 2024 honorees include Lauren Jurek and Rosemary Pine from Memorial Hermann, an ACE healthcare partner. Jurek was recognized as the Extraordinary Nursing Student honoree for her development and implementation of a neonatal cardiac care educational workshop. Her efforts resulted in a 25% improvement in staff knowledge and confidence at Memorial Hermann. Jurek completed the RN to MSN program at ACE.

Pine received the Extraordinary Nursing Preceptor honoree for her work in streamlining and assisting students with setting up their clinical rotations at Memorial Hermann.

In addition to these two exceptional individuals, Dr. Therese Shipps was awarded the DAISY Lifetime Achievement Award. As a member of ACE's Nursing Advisory Board, Dr. Shipps played a pivotal role in establishing ACE's nursing programs and continues to show her commitment to nursing education and excellence. She has previously served as director of the University of Maine School of Nursing and chair for the Maine State Board of Nursing, as well as holding faculty positions with Salem State College, Boston University, and Grand Canyon University.

The DAISY Awards highlight the impact that nurses make in the lives of patients, families, and communities. ACE is proud to recognize these honorees for their contributions and dedication to providing exceptional care.
